September 20, 2009

Jewelry designer and breast cancer survivor Neda Behnam has created a jewelry collection with a heartfelt message, inspired by the belief that “diamonds are precious…so is life.” Her first collection is designed especially to help raise funds for Stand Up to Cancer, an organization working to find a cure for various cancers through critical and innovative research. The Diamonds for a Cure collection includes creations drawn from vintage jewelry motifs, exquisitely detailed art deco pieces, and classically inspired designs. Each piece includes a Certificate of Authenticity and a personal message from the designer, and a percentage of sales goes directly to Stand up to Cancer.

Jeffrey Levin, an artisan jewelry designer originally from Capetown, South Africa, has just launched the Jeffrey Levin Ndu Collection, street-style-meets-tribal-trend jewelry handcrafted in sterling silver, rose gold, and black diamonds. The name “ndu” (pronounced “en-du”), comes from the languages of the Ndebele tribes of Zimbabwe and the northern and eastern provinces of South Africa. The beautiful bangle shown here features carved tribal motifs inspired by the bold, geometric shapes Ndebele women paint on their houses to celebrate their sons’ coming of age. Jeffrey’s urban take on his African heritage will effortlessly give an elegant yet edgy vibe to even the simplest looks, whether you’re heading off to a workday on Wall Street or an evening of dancing in the streets.
